چکیده

A two-element phased antenna array for a mobile handset is investigated using the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method. The array is designed to provide a spatial null in the near field zone in the direction of the human head. The optimisation algorithm to obtain the minimum peak specific absorption rate (SAR) is addressed. The dynamic range of the feeding voltages in relation to the reduction in SAR is discussed. The overall efficiency and azimuth coverage are improved and the peak specific absorption rate in the head can be reduced by at least 8 dB. The results are compared with those from a normal single element handset

Improvement the reflection coefficient of Waveguide-Fed Phased-Array Antenna utilizing Liquid Crystal

Abstract— This work investigates the improvement of the active reflection coefficient of waveguide-fed phased-array antenna using liquid crystal layers. The anisotropy properties of liquid crystal layer can be employed to eliminate blind scan angle and improve the wide angle impedance matching of the waveguide-fed phased array antennas. The authors have expressed the modal analysis of the waveg...

Phased array antenna using MEMS phase shifter

This article presents a phased array antenna employing MEMS phase shifter. The proposed phased array antenna consists of eight square patch antennas operating at 10.4 GHz with a bandwidth of 400 MHz. Feed line for each patch passes through a MEMS phase shifter realized by a series of bridges above the transmission line. The distance between the bridge and the transmission line underneath it is ...

Modulated scattering array antennas for mobile handsets

A concept of modulated scattering array antenna is proposed based on the modulated scattering technique. The array antenna consists of one antenna element and several modulated scattering elements (MSE). The configuration of the array antenna is very simple because only one branch of the front-end circuit is required. It is shown by experimental investigations that a 3-element modulated scatter...

On Body Concealed Weapon Detection Using a Phased Antenna Array

The detection and identification of metal items and, in particular weapons, of linear size ≥ 10 cm, concealed upon the human body, is demonstrated as being entirely feasible by using a phased array of suitably ultra wide band transceivers. The complex natural resonances and especially the fundamental resonance, are excited by ultra wide band, stepped frequency continuous wave illumination of th...

A study of MMSE adaptive array antennas for handsets in consideration of antenna configuration

Channel capacities and data rates of mobile communications have been increasing to meet demands of modern communications. In order to achieve a low bit error rate (BER), we need high signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR). To realize the high SINR, it is effective to use an adaptive array antenna [1]. The adaptive array antenna can reduce the influence of multipath rays. On the other ha...
